BOTOX® COSMETIC BY LE DOCTEUR

Botox® Cosmetic InjectionsBotox® Cosmetic injections are performed by Dr. Gervais Fréchette in New York City and San Francisco.  It is a simple, non-surgical, physician administered treatment that can temporarily smooth moderate to severe frown lines, between the brows.  Botox® is effective on men and women from 18 to 65 years of age and is the only treatment of its type approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

After one treatment of a few very small injections, within days moderate to severe frown lines between the brows are significantly reduced or eliminated.  These effects usually last up to or around 4 months but results may vary.

MOST POPULAR PHYSICIAN-ADMINISTERED AESTHETIC PROCEDURE IN USA

Botox® in San Francisco and New York CityFor the fourth year in a row the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery ranked BOTOX® Cosmetic as the most popular physician administered aesthetic procedure in the United States (surgical and non-surgical combined).

BOTOX® Cosmetic is a purified protein produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium, which relax muscles that over time cause those frown lines to form between the brows. It also helps the lines around the eyes and can be injected in other areas of the face with other fillers, to maximize the expectations of patients.
It was approved in 2002, by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the temporary treatment of moderate to severe frown lines between the brows, in people over 18 year of age.  In 2005, almost 3.3 million procedures were performed with FDA approved BOTOX® Cosmetic.
Nearly 90% of men and women surveyed in clinical trials rated improvement in the reduction of frown lines between their brows as moderate to better, 1 month after treatment.

OFF-LABEL USES OF BOTOX®

By 1973, Alan B Scott, MD, of Smith-Kettlewell Institute used botulinum toxin type A (BTX-A) in monkey experiments, and, in 1980, he officially used BTX-A for the first time in humans to treat strabismus. In December 1989, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved BTX-A (BOTOX) for the treatment of strabismus, blepharospasm, and hemifacial spasm in patients over 12 years old. The cosmetic effect of BTX-A was initially described by the Carruthers’, a dermatologist/ophthalmologist husband and wife team working in Vancouver, Canada, although the effect had been observed by a number of independent groups. On April 15, 2002, the FDA announced the approval of botulinum toxin type A (BOTOX Cosmetic) to temporarily improve the appearance of moderate-to-severe frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines). BTX-A has also been approved for the treatment of excessive underarm sweating. The acceptance of BTX-A use for the treatment of spasticity and muscle pain disorders is growing, with approvals pending in many European countries and studies are ongoing on headaches (including migraine), prostatic symptoms, asthma, obesity and many other possible indications. BOTOX-A is manufactured and sold worldwide by Allergan Inc.; for more information visit Botox Cosmetic website.
